Privacy policy

Crusher Spare Exchange handles personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share information when you enquire about surplus crusher spares, inspections, storage, delivery and related services.

Who is responsible for your information

Crusher Spare Exchange operates from Middelburg, Mpumalanga and is managed by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd. The business is led by Thabo Johannes Mokoena and supported by a team that includes Lerato Maseko, Sibusiso Ndlovu, Anika van Zyl, Mpho Rakoma, Nokuthula Dlamini and Johan Steenkamp. We only use personal information for ordinary business purposes linked to listing, inspecting, storing and moving surplus crusher spares between quarries and mines across South Africa.

We collect and process information in a careful and lawful way, and only for purposes that are relevant to your enquiry, order, exchange, collection or delivery. If you contact us from Middelburg, eMalahleni, Rustenburg, Polokwane, Kathu, Pietermaritzburg, Secunda or Lydenburg, the same privacy standards apply.

What information we collect

We collect information that helps us confirm your request, assess parts, arrange logistics and keep records of transactions. This may include contact details, company details, site locations, delivery instructions, part references, photographs, inspection notes and correspondence. Where needed, we also record yard storage details, pallet counts, condition reports and fitment check notes.

  • Names, job titles and company details
  • Contact and delivery information
  • Enquiry details and part descriptions
  • Inspection, storage and transport records
  • Payment and invoice related information

How we use personal information

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, confirm availability, manage surplus listings, arrange inspections and support exchange or sale of crusher spares. We also use it to organise local collections, nationwide delivery, shutdown sourcing and urgent spares searches. During load shedding, poor signal areas or busy shutdown periods, we may use your details to contact you about timing, access instructions or changes to collection arrangements.

  • To provide quotations and status updates
  • To coordinate collections, delivery and storage
  • To verify part condition and fitment checks
  • To manage invoices, records and follow up queries
  • To comply with legal, tax and contractual duties

Sharing information with third parties

We only share personal information where it is necessary for the service you requested, where the law requires it, or where you have given us permission. This may include sharing with transport providers, inspectors, storage facilities, clients in an exchange transaction or other parties involved in a confirmed supply chain. We keep sharing limited to the information needed to complete the task.

We do not sell personal information. We also do not pass on details for unrelated marketing. If a mine or quarry asks us to move a consignment from one region to another, we only share the details needed for collection, delivery and proof of handover.

Storage, security and retention

We keep records in a controlled manner to reduce loss, unauthorised access or misuse. Information may be stored in paper files or electronic records, depending on the nature of the transaction. Access is limited to staff who need the information to do their work, including operations, inspections, logistics and client support.

  • Records are kept only for as long as needed for the purpose collected
  • We retain certain records to meet tax, accounting and legal obligations
  • We aim to keep information accurate and up to date
  • When records are no longer needed, we dispose of them securely

Your rights under POPIA

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or object to certain processing where the law allows it. If your details change, please let us know so we can update our records. You may also request that we explain how your information was collected, used or shared in connection with a specific enquiry or transaction.

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Ask for correction or deletion where lawful
  • Object to processing in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw consent where consent was the basis for processing
  • Lodge a complaint in line with applicable South African law

Cross-border transfers and policy updates

Most of our work is local to South Africa, but some systems, service providers or communication tools may process information outside the country. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protection. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, operations or service arrangements across our Middelburg base and regional branches.

By submitting an enquiry through our contact page, you acknowledge that you have read this policy and understand how your information is handled for crusher spare exchange services. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not send us your information.
