2012: A practical start in Middelburg
Crusher Spare Exchange was founded in 2012 by Thabo Johannes Mokoena after seeing how many usable crusher spares were sitting idle at quarries and sites around Mpumalanga. In those early days, the work was hands-on and straightforward: identify surplus parts, check what could still be used, and connect the right buyer to the right seller without wasting time. The first yard operations were based in Middelburg, which gave the team access to the coal belt, nearby shutdown work and the main freight routes used by mines and quarries across the province.
From the start, the business focused on the parts that matter most when crushers are down. Bearings, shafts, liners, frames, screens, motors and other heavy wear items had to be handled properly, especially in a region where dust, rain and long hours can shorten service life. Those first months shaped the way the business still works today: practical inspection, honest condition notes and careful storage, with no fuss and no overpromising.
